2006 MISSION IN MINEMBWE DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF THE CONGO
In June of this year, Omega Foundation conducted a trauma healing seminar and began the construction of a church building in Minembwe, Democratic Republic of the Congo. This remote area is not accessible by vehicle as there are no roads. A small aircraft carried the team into Minembwe. They were met with enthusiasm by the local people, and more than 3,000 attended the joint reconciliation service. Mary Bellofatto, a counseling professional, gave workshops on healing from trauma. Dr. Wilson Hickam and Pastor Pascale from Goma, D.R.C., taught seminars for local pastors about reconciliation through Christ. Minembwe is the base for a military contingent of the South Kivu area. The general in charge there gave his testimony of receiving Christ in 1998 after witnessing God's intervention in saving his troops in a situation where they were outnumbered 100 to 1. The church being constructed will be attended by many of the military and their families.
